Whoa! where are we? Michael and I got season passes to the Georgia Aquarium. We got to go today and loved it! The rest of the pictures are about our Anniversary weekend.  Posted by Picasa

Good thing that acryllic is 2 feet thick! The whale sharks are amazing and they're supposed to get much bigger. Posted by Picasa

How cute is this sea otter? She was sucking on her paw! Otters are my favorite, probably. I saw one off the pier in Pismo Beach where my brother and his wife used to live. That's where I fell in love :) Posted by Picasa

The sea lions were so fun...we saw a bunch of them in Fisherman's Wharf in San Fran in March. They are taking over that place! Posted by Picasa

We went to church Saturday with Ryan Keck and his girlfriend Morgan. Then, on Sunday we woke up and drove to Brasstown Valley Resort. It was a great drive! I love the big fireplaces they have there, too. Posted by Picasa

Here's the view from part of our Resort on our Honeymoon...we took a helicopter tour of Maui and that other island you can see in the distance. I don't remember the name, but there's a leper village there and it's where they filmed part of one of the Jurassic Park movies. Posted by Picasa

I can't believe it's our First Anniversary on Sunday! Here's a pic of us in Maui, Hawaii last year. So pretty! Posted by Picasa

Women's Ministry

I feel like we are on the brink of something huge here at Tech. Things just seem to be falling into place real quick for me. The doors are flying open and I'm meeting people everyday. It's so fun!
Tonight, I helped a girl lead an investigative Bible Study at Phi Mu with some of her Freshmen sisters. I don't know much about these girls yet, but I'm excited to get to know them better. We are also opening the group on Monday nights, too. Tech students are so busy and their available times can fluctuate a lot. Hopefully they'll be able to come to one or the other. We had 10 interested girls, so we'll see where this goes. We're just studying the Book of John and opening the floor to any questions. Please pray for that.
Also, I'm hoping to join another girl that's an Alabama grad at another sorority. She's doing a small group there and would love some help. Hopefully that will work out, too.
I just love being with college girls who are hungry for spiritual things or who aren't. It's fun and challenging at the same time. I love that we're here.

Ghost Readers

I was talking with someone (a girl that came to Moscow) who shall remain anonymous (she lives in South Carolina) tonight and realized that we have people that read and never comment. I'd love to know if someone is reading that I don't know about. Fess up! :)

Now there's no excuse

The CRC (Campus Recreation Center) is stinking amazing! The treadmills have individual TVs on them with over 70 channels, they have the best weight equipment, multiple pools, a lazy river, a water slide, multiple basketball courts, walking path and more. It's better than UGA's Ramsey Center and I thought that was amazing. I have no excuse but to get in shape now. All the students go and it's a great place to spend time with them. Good times.

Never thought I'd see the day

We got our Buzz cards 2 days ago. It was a long drawn out process, but we finally got them! They asked us if we were students before since our ID numbers were earlier issued ones. I was confused, because I never even applied to Tech. Apparently, they wanted both me and Michael when we were in High School. Michael said they had actively recruited him, but I never heard anything. She said they had me in the computer because they would have accepted me. That made my Dad feel good because he's a huge Tech fan.
The funny part of the story comes when I'm running all over campus with Michael to get this done and I run across Northside Dr. I got to the other side and was in mid sentence when I fell face first on the other side of the road from Michael. It was stinking hilarious. Michael couldn't stop laughing and we wish we had it on video for you. You can't take me anywhere...

A Day for the Plummers

Our friends Bryan and Shelley Riddle have been facing severe sewer problems for over a month now. Today I had lunch with Bryan and snapped a couple pictures of the work at his house.

As I type, a different set of plummers are on the way to our condo. Thankfully, we have only a small issue with our hot water heater, but it still occupies most of the day. Other than that, we're doing great.

When in Rome...

So, I went to campus yesterday to meet with some girls and workout in the amazing Tech Campus Rec Center. After that, I was walking in the Student Center while I waited for Michael to call me and come pick me up after his meeting.
I tried to look like a student by wearing my backpack and tennis shoes and all...you know, when in Rome. I put my cell phone in my pocket, but forgot to turn down the ringer volume. Michael called and "Glory! Glory to old Georgia!" starts playing VERY loudly from my pocket. I franticly tried to find it in my pocket and turn it off before someone came and jumped me. I mean, I was in enemy territory! Thankfully no one did anything to me. How embarrassing! I just walked outside and talked to him out there and sat on a bench as I waited. Oh well...

Quote for the day... and a cool TV

We just returned from helping the Godwin's pick-up a cool new TV-- really cool. We're looking forward to joining them for movies or ballgames occasionally (just a little more than we always have looked forward to those occasions).

So, the simply-over-heard quote for the day:
"They always tell all the bad stuff. Show some good things going on sometime! I don't know about you, but where I'm from, if the news is in the neighborhood, you know somethin' bad's goin' on."
-- guy from the loading dock where we picked up the TV

For those interested in Ukraine

Here is an interesting article (from The International Herald Tribune: Europe) summing up recent political headlines in Ukraine and the current situation between Moscow and Kiev, Putin and Yushenko, Putin and Yushenko's opponents. The headline sounds bad, but I don't know too much about the situation to say whether it's that bad or not. Just interesting...and there are some good glimpses into the current events, for those who have friends in Kiev.

Updates from the New Year

The conference continued into the New Year-- Jan. 2nd. Since then we've had a good time-- working at Starbucks (last 2 regular days for me were Jan. 5th & 6th), working at the stationery store, watching some movies (some really good ones, I might say: The Princess Bride, and Cinderella Man, which my brother gave me for Christmas)), cleaning the condo, visiting with friends, etc.

Sunday night we went to eat with Amber's parents for her mom's birthday. Dinner at Chow Baby was fun (cool stir fry restaraunt not far from our home), and we found a cool new coffee shop referred to us by Elise.

Christmas Conference Report

About 25 students from Georgia Tech and a couple from Georgia State participated in our Christmas Conference here in Atlanta. Total, there were about 1,900 students from Campus Outreach regions Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Augusta, Greenville, Minneapolis, Gulf Coast and Florida. Each of the speakers had a particularly good message. Too bad we could only hear a little from Joe Ehrmann and Moe Leverett (Randy Pope was the main speaker throughout).

Amber and I saw a lot of our friends from Charleston and Augusta, and that's always a great bonus for us. It's exciting to hear what's going on at their schools, too.

Probably the best thing for us at Georgia Tech was the informal time and small meetings we shared. I think the guys in several different fraternities and some of the younger students who aren't in a fraternity all grew much closer during the few days. And even though we only had a handful of girls, I think they got to know the each other and the guys a lot better, too. (we're hoping to meet more girls this semester, too)
