It's A...
BOY!!! YAY!!! We are excited beyond expression. We love him so much! We got a cool video of him and hopefully we'll figure out how to put some of it up here or atleast some of the ultrasound pics. Thanks for all the fun messages!

Baby likes worship
We had just finished singing Christmas songs at church this morning and sat down. I felt a kick! I guess Baby was telling me that he/she wanted to sing more :) I've felt it moving a ton this week...like it's doing flips when I'm sleeping or something. This was the first real kick, though. So fun!

Say Cheese, Baby!

After we ate dinner, I realized that this is the biggest I've been. I think the baby is sticking it's little bottom out to make me look bigger and show off for the camera. I haven't felt anything yet, but I should be able to soon! I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow and just 2 weeks away from finding out just who this baby is.

update
I went to the doctor again today for my 16 week check up. It took forever to find the baby's heartbeat and I got a little nervous. Apparently, the baby didn't want to cooperate and wanted to hide. My stomach got smaller today (weird) and I lost a pound since last month...even with yummy Thanksgiving food! I guess it just fluctuates from day to day.
Only 3 more weeks until we find out if it's a boy or girl! I'm obsessed...

Yum
Today the ticker says, "Watch what you eat! The baby has taste buds now." Good thing we just came home from the Cheesecake Factory and had Heath Bar Crunch Cheesecake! Thanks, PJ!

We heard the heartbeat...and my laugh!
We went to the doctor this morning to hear the heartbeat. It took a minute to find it because it was so low, but it was easy to know it was the baby's heartbeat. It beats twice as fast as mine. She said, "there he is!" I wonder why she said he?
We listened to it for a second and I laughed because it was so fun. My laugh echoed through the machine and came out sounding like a gorilla!!! Our poor baby hears a gorilla everytime I laugh! That made me keep laughing and the doctor had to wait for me to stop so she could finish. It was so funny!

Confession
The baby isn't really due May 19th. The doctor says May 15th, but I want it to be the 19th so we'll share a Birthday! :) We really do think it's later, though.

Death and Redemption-10 years ago today
It's interesting to me that this article is titled Death and Redemption because that describes what happened in my life after this terrible event 10 years ago today. One of my Middle School friends, Rachael Ford, was killed in this accident that was supposed to be a night of fun and pranks for Homecoming. I was too scared to go to the funeral and I couldn't stop thinking what would happen to me if that was my situation. Would I be in Heaven? I couldn't stand the thought of not knowing. I later heard the Gospel at a Young Life camp and understood I needed Christ's righteousness to replace my sin so I could be sure of never experiencing God's wrath. What a wonderful gift!
Although there was much pain a sorrow for everyone involved, this article and my own personal story show how God works everything out for the good of those who love Him! Romans 8:28

The Jumping Bean
The ticker on the top left of the screen told us that the baby will jump if you touch it. It's too small to feel now, but we tried poking at my stomach today just to see. I didn't feel anything, but it made me laugh. I keep calling it the Bean instead of something cute like Sweet Pea or Peanut...we'll see what sticks. It's so fun to know that a baby is growing in me! We love him/her already.

Food Cravings
Some people have asked me if any food cravings have developed yet. Actually, I eat at least 2 bowls of Fruity Pebbles a day. How weird is that? I usually eat a cinnamon bagel, too. Any ideas of how to get iron???

Peanut Butter
So, we haven't updated in a long time. Well, we've started the school year off running. We've met a ton of people through our friends and Michael is playing Flag Football with a group of guys at 10:20pm on Wednesdays! I come and catch the end of it after watching Project Runway with some girls on Kira's hall. Our schedule is funny because we're on campus most days by 8am and meet with people on and off all day and some days we don't come home until almost 12. We're learning when to take time off and relax. I'm going to start meeting with some ZTA's on Sunday night before our Leadership Meetings. I'm excited about that! An older girl in the sorority is leading the Bible Study and a girl named Natalie that was a ZTA at Alabama is going to come, too.
We went to Athens today for our Staff Family Day. That was great to catch up with staff at other schools and eat some good food! We're planning to do that once a month so it's not 5 months between each time we see each other. Good idea :0)
We're going on a triple date tomorrow night with both of our parents...that'll be fun! We're taking Michael's parents to the Aquarium. We haven't been since January, so I'm excited...plus they've never been.
Well that's enough for now.

We lost our camera cord
Does anyone know where we left it? There's really no telling where it is. I'll have to type what we did this week instead of posting pictures...boo! I'm not a good writer, but here it goes. We went to McRae Thursday for Michael's great Aunt Mary's funeral and spent time with his family there and in Dublin. We went to Macon Friday afternoon to see David and Melissa at their new house. It was way cute in historic Vineville. Britt stayed with us and that was fun, too! Melissa is an amazing chef and made dinner and breakfast for us. After that, we left for Savannah to visit Brad and Carrie Brookshire, who need a blog! :) We had a great time with them in the afternoon walking around downtown. We stayed with them after we went to LaToya Rose's wedding who is now LaToya Tucciarone. That's funny. It was a pretty wedding! We went to church with The Brookshires on Sunday and then we went out on their boat. They took us to a little island near Richmond Hill and then we went crabbing. We only caught 4, so we had to throw them back and order pizza for dinner :(. I loved their little town and house. It was a great visit and they're doing really well for all of you that know them. Let's see...oh, then we went to Dublin for Dad Vestal's Birthday and got to see MIchael's grandparents again and the rest of the family and friends after dinner. We went through Macon again today and got to see Tiffany!!! She's home for a few weeks because Brett is on a ship! We're planning to go to church together Sunday. Basically, we've lived in our car. I could tell more travel stories, but I think that's enough for now.

Braves deal (click here)
Well, they got a reliever. I'm hopeful-- reservedly hopeful. But I'm thrilled at their recent play-- some very impressive turn-arounds since June ended.
Funny Story (click here)
Hayden's got a great story up on their blog now. If you've got 3 minutes, you should check it out: very funny. We visited their house last Sunday and really liked it! Good to hear it's being well defended.

July
In the course of a campus ministry year, summer offers remarkable perspective. And the perspective our team is currently gaining excites us tremendously! God continues His great work—through and despite us—building laborers for the Kingdom. Even though our evaluations are limited, your prayers and investments are clearly earning a return!
Perspective from the SBP: In any work, evaluation and planning require some type of goals; in our calling to build laborers on the campus for the lost world, it’s helpful for us to understand “4 E’s”-- Evangelize, Establish, Equip and Export-- as goals in our discipleship.
Students are evangelized... One Georgia Tech student named Brad has become a Christian while on SBP. God has been working for months now through fraternity brothers and one of our staff teammates to change Brad’s life. Several other students on the project are in Brad’s fraternity, and along with Bryan Riddle (our staff campus director), they had been sharing the Gospel with him and several others this past spring semester. Now Brad is growing in his new walk with God, studying His Word and even praying with these other friends that God would continue to work in their fraternity to make Christ known and loved.
Students are established... Remember Matt Skovgard from our last update? Matt might have the coolest job this summer; he works as a scuba instructor in North Myrtle Beach. In fact, he has been sharing his faith with co-workers and customers. Matt sees the essential connection between his new relationship with Christ and his opportunities to share the Gospel with others. And Matt’s interest in the Scriptures continues to grow as he receives practical training in how to study the Bible on his own. Seeing Matt (and other students like him) grow and interact with others on the project assures us that God is establishing new believers in their growth to maturity.
Six of these other students are rising sophomores in Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Their friendships strengthen our team in an important way. As these girls-- some of them for the first time-- pursue God with intention and focus, many others back on the campus will notice. Please pray for God to strengthen our communities and friendships as we seek to grow and labor together.
Students are equipped... Josh, as a rising sophomore, has been pursuing God hard this summer. He realizes that SBP offers a special time for training that can’t be duplicated back on the campus. So Josh has been proactive to engage deeply with the guys in his room and to give priority to time in the Word. We couldn’t be more excited about where Josh is! He and many other students are being equipped to share Christ with others and even to disciple some in a growing relationship with Christ. Please pray that God would continue this equipping work in Josh and others. And please ask God to give us more insight to how we can serve each of these students and effectively invest our lives with them.
Perspective from our staff retreat: Now, in the weeks the SBP runs without our staff, we have the best opportunities to evaluate and plan ahead for the next year, even several years of ministry. As in any other work or calling, these seasons of evaluation, planning and prayer are vital to our effectiveness. The most encouraging themes from these times have been the deepening trust on our staff team, each of our individual developments as leaders, of course the exciting growth we see in the students, and the addition of a new staff member here at Georgia Tech-- Stephen McGuire. Please pray for this special time of planning.
Perspective from the Word: (Col 1:9-14) “asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God...” We trust God for these things in Christ--in our lives and in yours--that we might know and follow Him.

SBP Update
Our staff team could not be more encouraged by the beginning of SBP 2006! Not that everything has been easy; but we can see God working powerfully both in the students and in ourselves.
The students leaders arrived last Wednesday and the other students showed up on Friday, except for 4 who were traveling long distances and had commitments-- but even they showed up on Sunday. We have one more student on her way tomorrow.
Saturday morning we started orientation for the students, introducing them to the beach project schedules and each of the training packages. Saturday evening we also held a testimony clarifying time. I was able to give a talk-- about 30 minutes just looking at the biblical characteristics of Christians (mostly in 1 John) and challenging the students to consider when their lives began to move more toward these characteristics. Each room then broke up to discuss their testimonies and begin getting to know each other a little more deeply. Two students seem to have first really understood the Gospel that night, so we're extremely happy to see them begin a walk with God.
After two days of looking (the first day was Memorial Day), all the students have jobs and have at least begun their training. Myrtle Beach/Garden City offers a lot more options that Clearwater did in the past, simply because here they have a peak season in the summer. We did have the extra factor of coordinating with 4 other beach projects from different regions, but that also turned out to be helpful in the end. So, praise God that the students have already found work for the summer and their regular weekly schedules can begin, hopefully maximizing the effectiveness of these early weeks.
Monday night we held our first "theme" meeting. Our project director spoke on Psalm 86:11-13-- our theme verses for the summer-- and we had a time to privately examine where our hearts might be divided and to ask God, along with David's prayer, to give us undivided hearts that we may fear His name. Each day has been special in its own way, and there are many students-- and all of the staff-- who are growing in our understanding of our need for the Gospel.
Thank you for praying for us! We've heard from a few of you, and appreciate your updates. Please let us know how you are. We'll try to send brief updates each week or so.
Trusting Him,
michael

Summer Beach Project
We are leaving for SBP tomorrow!!! For those who don't know...it's a ten-week project for students from Tech, UGA and North Ga. in Garden City, SC. The students will work 40 hours a week at fast food places and golf courses and other jobs like that. They will recieve training at night in Bible Study, life management, ministry and evangelism. It is an essential time in our vision of "building laborers on the campus for the lost world". Please pray for our time of training as staff as well as the students that will be there the whole summer. We will only be there until the end of June. I'll try to update while we're there! Happy Summer!
Oh, and we have a big dog guarding our condo, so don't even think about it!

i'm a quarter!
It's so weird. How am I 25? I feel like I'm still 21 and can't really age past that. For those of you that remember...kathryn and the pinata and Shelly and four square--that's where I quit aging :)

Dublin

There's the photo from our last trip to Dublin on St. Patrick's Day. Michael caught this fish in the pond...that's a big fish! We're in Dublin right now just hanging out. Michael went to the eye doc and I'm home alone while the parents are working.
My Mom gave me a sewing machine for my Birthday (a bit early) and I'm so excited! I brought it here just to see if I could figure it out. She took me to the fabric store yesterday and we got some fabric to make a skirt and some ribbon to make a belt. Does anyone want to help me learn how to sew? I'm reading the manual now and I'll be a quick learner...I hope! :) Thanks Mom for helping me learn something new!
Tomorrow we're going to Athens for Matthew's graduation that's Saturday morning. I can't believe it's already been 3 years since our Graduation!

We went to the Braves game friday night with Josh and Lauren Teague and their friends. 4 guys parachuted in with the ball for the first pitch. That was amazing. Even though the Braves lost, it was fun. We even got a firework show after! Good times.
